PV Sindhu fights out of the finals at World Championship, becomes second Indian to win a silver

PV Sindhu had to settle for silver as she lost to Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara 19-21, 22-20, 20-22 in one hour 50 minutes at the finals of World Championships on Sunday. While she was terribly disappointed, Sindhu became the 2nd Indian to win a silver at the World Championships after Saina Nehwal.

Even though she had to be content with the silver, PV Sindhu chose to laud her opponent’s fighting spirit and believed it will only make her a better player.

Two years ago, Saina had become the 1st Indian to reach the final of  Badminton World Championship. She had won a silver  then

This was India’s best performance so far at the world championships. While Sindhu lost the final and settled for a silver, Saina Nehwal won a bronze after losing to the same Japanese in the semi-final the previous day. For the first time, India won two medals at the World Championships.
