Rajat Kapoor’s ‘What’s Done Is Done’ is a clowned adaptation of Macbeth

Rajat Kapoor’s ‘What’s Done Is Done’ is an interpretation of Macbeth. Rajat Kapoor has adapted 4 of the Bard’s plays – Macbeth, King Lear, Hamlet and As You Like It, using clowing as an expression which sees actors playing their parts as clowns. In ‘Whats Done Is Done’ the clowns turn darker and more scary.

Director: Rajat Kapoor
Cast: Vinay Pathak, Ranvir Shorey, Jim Sarbh, Kalki Koechlin, Mansi Multani, Maya Serrao, Sujay Saple, Suraj Tomer, Waris Ahmed, Chandrachoor Rai.

In ‘What’s Done Is Done ‘, the Scottish king Macbeth becomes Macky B the righteous man.  A good human, a brave soldier and a loyal friend, Macky B would have remained the same  had he not met the three weird sisters. As a matter of fact, he would have been happier. There must be a reason for why we do not know our future, why it remains a mystery to us. Sometimes, all you need is a little push- a push that will get you to the Dark Side. Something similar happens to Macky B and thus, he falls!
